First Lady Shirley Denson (Sis. "D")

Being the best “Woman of God” she can be; loving her husband, children, grandchildren, and the body of Christ is where you will find First Lady Shirley Denson.

“Sis. D”, as she is affectionately known, has worked in the Church since childhood.  She has served as choir member, Choir President, Sunday school teacher, and certified Christian counselor.

Additionally she heads Macedonia Ministries “Women’s Ministry”, the “Drama Ministry”, serves on the Ministerial Licensing Board, and accepts speaking engagements as time permits. First Lady Denson was licensed to preach the gospel on June 1, 1986.  She was ordained July 13, 2003.

First Lady Denson was born Shirley Faye Jones on March 22, 1949 in Hugo Oklahoma, to parents Goins and Annie Jones.  She was the youngest of 12 children.  At a very young age, the family moved to Edwardsville Kansas.  First Lady Denson graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1967.  She attended two semesters of Junior college, and after a six month courtship, she married her “Soldier Boy”, Tommy Denson on October 12, 1968, five months before he left for Vietnam.

If raising two boys of her own wasn’t enough to keep her busy, First Lady Denson has opened her home to several teens over the years, and took in a new born baby girl, who she continues to consider her child.

Through the years, First Lady Denson has found time to work as a “Welder” for General Motors, attend and graduate from “Fire fighting school, work as a “Jailer” for Denton County, serve as “Community Service Officer” for the Lewisville Police Department, and worked “Security/Loss Prevention” for Fina Oil and Chemical, Double Tree and Marriott hotels.

It has been said that when it comes to “Sis. D”, what you see is what you get.  She is a very “Easy” person to “Love”.
